Parkwood Collection Launch in District 19

Prive has been sold out for some years now. Since then there have been several residential launches in the District 19 area covering Sengkang / Punggol / Hougang along the North-East MRT line. These, including Prive, have all been for condominiums. The latest launch however, called Parkwood Collection, is for landed cluster housing.

The Parkwood Collection launch will be the first sizeable landed housing project to come up around this area for a very long time. So we should see quite a good response from pent up demand, especially since there are not many new housing estates like this that is within easy walking distance of an MRT station and shopping centre.

Location of the Parkwood Collection Launch

This development will comprise 53 new strata landed houses in the Realty Park Estate (that goes back a long way, over 50 years, when the surrounding land was still a kampong!) at the Hougang district. It has the advantage of being within a landed estate, yet within 9 minutes walk from Houang MRT station and the supermarkets and malls at Hougang Town Centre. Not many landed housing estates can boast those advantages.

The Parkwood Collection is being developed by Fantasia Investment (Singapore) in partnership with two individual investors. The partnership snapped up the site in a fiercely fought contest among 11 bidders for the URA land sale. Analysts see this as a reflection of the scarcity of sizeable land parcels for landed housing.

  1. It provides residents with the best of both worlds – the spaciousness and privacy of landed housing, with the conveniences of a condominium lifestyle.
  2. There is limited supply in the market for landed houses within walking distance of an MRT station and mall.
  3. It caters to buyers who prefer brand new homes from a developer, who might otherwise be concerned about the history of the place.
  4. Especially since this is a brand new estate, so all the surrounding units are equally new.
    Minimises maintenance worries, as the communal areas and facilities, and building envelope is taken care of by the management body. One of the biggest bug bears of landed housing is the amount of external maintenance needed, so this addresses such issues.
  5. Close to good schools. The Parkwood Collection is within 1km of Holy Innocents Primary School.
